membership basics

Newport Think Local is not just a digital platform helping locals to support local businesses, it’s an entire mindset shift.

The Newport Traders Association Newport Think Local campaign

The NTA is a membership based group whose major goals are to advocate for all Newport businesses and organise networking and marketing opportunities that will encourage people to visit and shop in Newport.

Our primary goal is to support each other and market the vast array of businesses that are located in Newport, as well as providing important support and information to owners.

What the NTA does to help local traders

We receive some funding and support from Hobsons Bay City Council and self-fund through grants and membership fees.

We hold a meeting each month (which is not compulsory) and provide materials and support to businesses and owners.

We also liaise regularly with Council and other Government Departments and agencies to assist with issues that affect members. This can include traffic management and roadworks.

Specific activities and outcomes from the Newport Think Local campaign

We have a website and social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) where we promote member businesses on a regular basis. These promotions consist of trader listings, events, and a blog/news page bringing interviews with our local traders to life editorially.

How do traders sign up?

STEP 1 - Simply navigate to the Register your business button at the top of this website and fill out all your business related details.

STEP 2 - Ensure you upload any relevant business related images and important links/social media URLs before submitting your form.

STEP 3 - Once your form is submitted, the Newport Traders Association will review your details and provide you with an invoice for you to pay your membership.

If you have any problems or questions upon submitting your form, you can always reach out to us at newportraders@gmail.com

What’s the cost to join?

If you’d like to become a member, all you need to do is complete the form on our Register your business page. Once reviewed, we’ll send an invoice for your $100 annual fee. Membership is valid for the financial year, so will run through to June 30 of the current financial year.

Once you are a member, you’ll be placed on our database where you will receive emails relating to the initiatives and opportunities that are underway with the NTA. You’ll also be listed here as a trader on our website and have your details available for public viewing. Examples of how your listing might come to life can be seen on our Newport Traders page. You’ll also receive agendas and minutes of our monthly meetings.

Shop local. Support local. Think local.

The Newport Traders Association is endeavouring to shift local mindsets to Think Local first before venturing to large multi-national enterprises and online shopping. The concept of Think local is all about prompting locals to support their local village and empower our businesses to thrive.

We are motivated to have all Newport Traders and local residents supporting one another. Are you onboard?
