Edwards Family Meats are the only traditional butchers in Newport and we know how to cater to the local community's needs.

The Mason Street butcher has been operating since before the Great Depression and we are proud to continue that tradition as Edwards Family Meats.

John Edwards has over forty years experience in butchery and for the past fifteen years has been managing the shop, then named Eddie the Butcher.

Since February 2021 John and his family have rebranded and modernised the store, offering different cuts and new products while maintaining the shop’s reputation for award-winning small goods made on site.

The Junction Beer Hall & Wine Room is the local’s local.

We are proud Newport residents who have transformed a historic 1850s pub on Hall Street into a stylish venue housing a beer hall and wine room, function rooms and sunny beer garden.

Swapping spreadsheets for cinnamon scrolls in 2020 to follow in his father’s footsteps, accountant-turned-pastry chef Olivier Chan Chan is a familiar face around farmers’ markets in Melbourne’s West.

With the momentum garnered at markets and popups, Ollie opened his Newport micro bakery, Motte Bakery, in January 2024, offering locals easy access to his unique and moreish treats from 7am - 2pm Monday to Saturday.

Catering to sweet and savoury palates, you’ll find Pandan-coconut cake and ube-dyed Basque cheesecake, alongside ham and cheese scrolls, carrot cake, double-baked custard croissants and more!
